Colonic Hydrotherapy FAQs
Considering colonic hydrotherapy but still have questions? That’s completely normal, particularly if you’ve never had a treatment before.
Here are straightforward answers to some of the questions Geri is commonly asked.
Frequently asked questions
What does colonic hydrotherapy feel like?
Everyone experiences treatment differently. You may notice sensations including fullness, an urge to open your bowels or occasional abdominal cramping. You can communicate with Geri throughout your treatment and should always tell her if you’re uncomfortable.
Does colonic hydrotherapy hurt?
The treatment should not normally be painful. Some temporary discomfort or cramping can occur. If you experience pain or significant discomfort, tell Geri immediately.
Is having a colonic embarrassing?
It’s understandable to think it might be. However, your treatment takes place privately and Geri works with colonic hydrotherapy professionally every day. Your modesty is protected and you remain appropriately covered during treatment.
Is there any smell or mess?
Gut Feeling uses a closed system. Waste passes directly through the treatment equipment and is carried away.
How long does colonic hydrotherapy take?
Treatment typically lasts around 45 minutes. Your overall appointment will take longer because time is allowed for consultation, preparation and questions, particularly during your first visit.
What should I wear?
Wear normal, comfortable clothing. Geri will explain what you need to do before the treatment begins and your privacy will be maintained.
Do I need to fast beforehand?
You do not need to undertake extreme fasting or cleansing. Follow the preparation guidance supplied by Geri when your appointment is confirmed.
Can I go back to work afterwards?
Many people continue with their normal day following an appointment. However, individual experiences vary, so it can be sensible not to arrange an unnecessarily rushed schedule immediately afterwards, particularly after your first treatment.
What happens afterwards?
Your bowel movements may temporarily be different following treatment. Geri will discuss appropriate aftercare with you before you leave. If you experience symptoms afterwards that cause concern, seek appropriate medical advice.
How many treatments will I need?
There isn’t a universal number of treatments that’s appropriate for everyone. Your circumstances can be discussed with Geri rather than assuming that everyone requires a particular course or schedule.
Can I have colonic hydrotherapy while pregnant?
Gut Feeling does not provide colonic hydrotherapy during pregnancy.
Can I have treatment during my period?
Having a period does not automatically prevent treatment, although you should contact Geri if you have concerns or would prefer to rearrange your appointment.
Is colonic hydrotherapy suitable for everyone?
No. Certain medical conditions, circumstances or recent procedures can mean colonic hydrotherapy is unsuitable. You’ll be asked to complete a health questionnaire before treatment. If you have an existing medical condition or are unsure whether treatment is appropriate, contact Geri before booking and seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional where necessary.
